Proposal
For my documentary project, I plan to interview members of the Emory Ted community to see the role they think their club plays on campus, and the degree to which they believe their extension of Ted embodies the goals of the institution at large. I am curious to ask three main questions to my interviewees.
The first: What role do you think TEDEmory plays on campus? I want to know why they think they are an asset to the student body and community at large, and why members of the TED team here devote so much of their time to the club.
Secondly: TedTalks are said to promote diversity and be inclusive to all people. To what extend does TED Emory attempt to be relevant to all students? Do they make certain efforts to include, religious, gender, ethnic, or geographical diversity? Is it more important for students to learn about what is here (ideas at Emory or in the south) than for the organization to focus on the student make up at any given time?
Finally, I am curious if students involved in TED have any specific groups of people or topics they would like TED to focus on in the future that have not really been addressed yet. Perhaps there is a greater cultural presence the club could have, or maybe they want to have different branches reaching different subjects.
